(More customer reviews)I found the same problem as other reviewers, namely that the sanding pad to which you attach the sand paper melts after a few minutes of use, rendering the sanding finger useless! This is true for all models of this pad (i.e. models RW9147, 9148, and the "heavy duty" 9149). When I contacted Rockwell about the problem (which was a bit of an ordeal in itself), the company was unaware of the problem and didn't have a fix. Unfortunately, since I want to use the Sonicrafter mainly for sanding, this reduces its usefulness to "paperweight" status.
This problem also occurs with the larger triangular sanding pads, although they seem to last a bit longer (perhaps an hour or two of light use).
